The Broadman Bible Commentary series has as its mission "to help men know the truth of God as it is revealed in His Word, that they may feel the heartbeat of his message in their lives in the modern-day world." With this purpose in mind, the commentary is based on the conviction that the Bible is a uniquely inspired revelation from God, to guide Christian faith and practice. Drawing upon the resources of historical and contemporary research and biblical scholarship, it is marked by strong emphasis on the redemptive message of the Scriptures and on the relevance of Bible teaching to the issues and problems of the present world. The text is in the Revised Standard Version (RSV), and outlines each chapter in a paragraph-by-paragraph interpretation. Exposition of the text is developed within this framework. Intentionally avoiding theological extremes, the commentary keeps Christ-centered faith and the reality of personal redemption as well as the demand for an authentic expression of faith in terms of a Christ-controlled life. - from Amzon
